About this Morse Code
The International Morse Code alphabet assigns a unique sequence of dots and dashes to each letter. Developed by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail in the 1830s, the code assigns shorter sequences to more common letters (E = · and T = —) and longer sequences to rare letters (Q = --.- and Z = --...). Today the ITU standard is used worldwide for amateur radio, aviation, and maritime communication.
